ADHD and Executive Function Coaching

Clinically trained support for adults whose systems keep falling apart, no matter how hard they work.

Who I work with

I coach adults, parents and professionals, who want a neuro-informed approach to executive functioning: organizing their thoughts, pulling out priorities, creating a plan, and regulating themselves to follow through.

That includes adults with ADHD, autism, those navigating perimenopause and menopause brain fog, people recovering from a concussion or long haul Covid, and people with no diagnosis at all.

My background is in cognitive-communication rehabilitation. Attention, memory, time management, and organization were what I worked on every day with patients whose brains had been changed by illness or injury. That’s what I bring to coaching.

Does this ever happen to you?

You can’t get started on a to-do list that keeps growing.

When you do get started, you stop before you finish.

You’re late to appointments and late to things you genuinely care about.

None of this is about effort. You’re already putting in more than anyone around you realizes.

You’re ready for this if:

You’ve tried things that worked for a while and then stopped working.

You want to understand how your brain works instead of fighting it.

You’re willing to experiment, adjust, and try again when something falls apart.

You’d rather build something that fits you than force yourself into a system that doesn’t.

You’re ready to invest time and money in this.

Finding strategies is easy. Making them fit is the hard part.

There’s no shortage of advice about planners, apps, and routines. The problem is that most of it assumes the strategy is the whole answer.

Before a strategy can work, two other things have to be in place. Your state, meaning your energy, your nervous system, and the sensory environment you’re sitting in. And your story, meaning the language running in your head while you’re trying to plan, start, and follow through.

When a system works on Monday and falls apart by Thursday, it usually isn’t the system. Something changed in your state or your story, and the strategy had nothing underneath it.

This is what we work on together. Not just the tools, but what has to be true for the tools to hold.

Your brain isn’t built for the same thing every day.

People tell me all the time that they just need to find the right system. But a neurodivergent brain wants novelty, spontaneity, and a little bit of chaos. Systems don’t stop working because you failed to maintain them. They stop working because your brain got bored.

Most of my clients can stay with a system somewhere between three weeks and three months. So we figure out what your cycle actually is, and then we plan the switch before it falls apart.

We also name your red flags: the specific signs that tell you a strategy is about to stop working. When you can see it coming, changing your approach is a decision you make on purpose instead of something that happens to you.

Cammisha

Hello, I’m Suzy.

I’m an ADHD and executive function coach, a certified organizational specialist, and a licensed speech-language pathologist. Before I started coaching, I spent five years in adult medical rehabilitation, working with people whose attention, memory, and organization had been changed by illness or injury.
I also have my own attention and sensory processing differences, so a lot of this work is familiar from the inside.
I don’t hand people a system and tell them to stick with it. I ask questions that help you figure out what’s actually happening, and then we build supports that fit the brain you have.

All services provided by Suzy Carbrey LLC are coaching, not clinical evaluation or treatment. If you’re looking for a speech therapy evaluation, please let me know and I can point you in the right direction.

What I specialize in

These areas overlap more than people expect. Executive functioning affects how you organize your thinking, and how you organize your thinking affects how you communicate. Most of my clients are working on all of it at once.

Not sure where to start?

Send me a message and tell me what’s going on. I read everything myself and I’ll point you toward whatever makes sense, whether that’s working with me or not.
